Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t see your question?

Please note that once you register and we send our copyrighted materials, we can reschedule you for another workshop, but we cannot offer a refund. Thank you for understanding.

I'd like to offer a workshop to my group (members of an association or organization). How can I do this?

We'd love to reserve spots or an entire workshop for your group and potentially offer a discount depending on the amount of members. Please contact our CEO directly at jen@employcalifornia.org with the following information: 1) your organization's name, 2) the workshop you'd like to offer, 3) the appoximate amount of participants, 4) three possible dates to hold the workshop, 5) whether you'd prefer in-person or virtual, 6) any other questions you may have. She will respond promptly.

We also develop custom training for organizations. Email jen@employcalifornia.org to set up a virtual meeting to discuss your needs.

What does the Learning Hub include?

With the Deductive and Inductive Reasoning workshop, participants have 4 weeks' access to the accompanying Learning Hub, which includes modules with lessons and quizzes which build the skills needed to successfully take the employment exam. Should you want to extend your access, you can subscribe to the Learning Hub for $10/month.

Can you tell me more about the Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Workshop?

Yes, check out the Q&A for the Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Workshop here.

Can I sign up for only the Learning Hub?

At this time, we are packaging our Learning Hub with our workshops.

Can I only attend one part of the workshop?

Yes, though you will find it helpful to remain the entire time.

Will I be seen or heard during the Zoom workshop?

No, only the instructors and host will be visible and audible. At no time will you be visible or audible to anyone in the class, including the instructors, so you can relax and learn. In order to ask questions, you can type your questions or comments into a private chat box which only the moderators will see. They will relay your questions to the instructors during the Question and Answer segment.

What do I need to participate?

A computer, laptop or tablet with speakers and access to the Internet is all you need to participate in our Zoom-based workshop.

Access to the workshop on a phone is possible but not optimal due to the difficulty in viewing the instructor’s shared screen and asking questions in the chat box.

Will workshops be offered be face-to-face?

We will be offering in-person workshops around Southern California in 2023.

Do I need to print my packet?

The Employ California workshop packet will be emailed from info@employcalifornia.org after booking your workshop. (Be sure to check your spam folder as it may be there.) We highly recommend that you print the packet so you can solve the problems directly on the pages and easily take notes during the workshop. Download the packet PDF, and print it at home or at your nearest local printing center. It does not have to be printed in color.

How long are the workshops?

The virtual Fundamental workshop covering Math, Data Interpretation, Written Expression and Reading Comprehension is 3.5 hours long, with a 10-minute break between sections. The virtual Deductive and Inductive Reasoning Workshop is 3 hours long with a 15-minute break between sections.

Our in-person workshop lengths vary. Contact Jen at jen@employcalifornia.org for more information.

Will you offer workshops focused on developing my writing skills?

Yes! We are currently developing an asychronous Professional Writing Skills Development Program, which means you'll be able to submit and complete work on your own time. You will respond to writing prompts and receive feedback from our English professors, who will then assign you module work from our Online Resource that targets the writing skill areas you can develop. For example, if a participant demonstrates they can develop their professional language, sentence structure, or punctuation, they will be assigned modules that contain lessons and quizzes in those target areas.

Can I take a workshop twice?

Yes! If you choose to attend twice, you will be given a coupon code for a discount. Please simply contact us directly at info@employcalifornia.org and we will provide you with the one-use discount code.

What if I cannot attend on the date I paid for?

No problem. Simply contact us at info@employcalifornia.org and we will arrange a different date at your convenience.

Can I get a refund if I cannot attend?

Fortunately, there are a number of alternate dates to choose from if you cannot make the date you scheduled. In addition, the workshop can be transferred to another person. If neither of these options work for you, we will not hesitate to refund you if we have not sent you the workshop workbook. Please email us at info@employcalifornia.org and we will be sure to accommodate you.

I'm a small business owner / work in a small business and I'd like assistance reviewing my writing. Do you help with this?

Yes! We copy edit for small businesses. We'll review anything you've written, including marketing materials, presentations, reports, proposals, emails--whatever you need help with. Email jen@employcalifornia.org for our affordable pricing list.

Can I still use these resources if I don't live in California?

Of course! We believe in sharing our resources with any one who needs it. If you will be attending one of our workshops or programs from overseas, please email Jen at jen@employcalifornia.org to make her aware a few days before the start.
